✨ Finding Calm & Light During the Holidays✨
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
Visiting. Entertaining. Time with family and friends.
Food and drink. Presents. Expectations. Stress!!
Yesterday, I subbed Christmas ever yoga class.
I planned to arrive early—
set the lighting, cue the music, warm the room, greet people as they arrived, and create a calm, grounded container.
Instead… I arrived later than planned.
People were already there.
And I forgot my mic.
Despite years of meditation and breathwork, my nervous system freaked out.
There were nearly 50 people.
How are they going to hear me?
I had planned to share a story… and suddenly my mind was racing.
So I did the only thing I could.
Hands on my heart.
Arms wrapped around myself.
Self-soothing.
Relaxing.
Surrendering.
And then… we breathed.
We settled in.
We got out of our heads and into our bodies.
We connected breath with movement.
And together, we moved through a beautiful flow.
These are the words I opened class with, and kept returning to:
“On the darkest day of the year, we remember that darkness is restorative.”
“In the darkness, we reconnect with the quiet places within ourselves that so often get overlooked.”
“As the sun rises slowly, lighting up the mountains, we honor the return of the light — both around us and within us.”
“Shine your light so brightly that you inspire others to shine as well.”
As this season unfolds, I invite you to pause and ask yourself:
Where can I soften instead of push?
Where can I slow down instead of power through?
And where is my light quietly waiting to be seen?
